Why Bespoke Software Beats Off-the-Shelf Solutions Every Time
Off-the-shelf tools promise quick fixes, but they rarely fit. Here's why tailored software delivers better ROI, scalability, and competitive advantage.
Good imagery sells the story. But getting multiple photos to sit together nicely — without a clunky desktop editor or a sketchy online uploader — has always been more painful than it should be. So we built a free Image Grid & Collage Maker that turns a folder of images into a polished composition in under a minute.
Drop in up to 12 photos. The tool instantly suggests a set of layouts that fit your image count and chosen canvas aspect — square for Instagram, 9:16 for stories, 16:9 for landing pages, 21:9 for panoramas, plus portrait and Twitter sizes. Don't like the first set? Hit re-roll and you'll get a fresh batch of grids, mosaics, masonry, hero, circle clusters and asymmetric scatter layouts.
Every cell respects the rules of good composition. Pick Cover when you want a polished crop, Contain when the whole image matters, or Fill when you want it to stretch corner to corner. Per-image overrides mean one stubborn portrait doesn't have to dictate the rules for the rest of the set.
Spacing is where amateur grids go wrong. Tune gap, padding, corner radius, border width and an optional cell shadow until the rhythm feels right. Apply shape masks per cell — rectangle, rounded, circle, hexagon or arch — for a more editorial look without firing up Figma.
Click any image to fine-tune it: pan inside the cell, zoom in, rotate by 90°, or flip horizontally and vertically. Nothing is destructive — your originals stay untouched and changes only apply to this composition.
Export when you're ready: PNG (lossless, transparent backgrounds supported), JPEG (with a quality slider) or WebP (smallest files). Pick 1×, 2× or 4× scale for crisp output up to 4000px on the long edge. There's also a 'each cell as ZIP' option for when you want the individual cropped pieces to use elsewhere.
The whole tool runs locally in your browser using the Canvas API. Your photos never touch a server, which means no waiting on uploads, no privacy worries, and no monthly fee. Pair it with our Colour Palette Generator to extract a palette from your hero image, or our Brand Guidelines Generator to lock the look down for your team.
